Fluorescein analog with high fluorescence in the low pH range (pH 4-5). Useful for intracellular organelle staining of acidic vesicles.

5-(and-6)-carboxy-2',7'-dichlorofluorescein is a fluorescent pH indicator (pKa = 5.1) that retains high fluorescence intensity at the lower pH found in many acidic cellular compartments and organelles such as in the lysosome, mitochondria or phagocytic vescicles.
