This amine reactive fluorescent probe is useful for labeling amino acids prior to resolution by capillary zone electrophoresis and for multicolor DNA and protein labeling experiments. The structure of 7-DCCAE is quite hydrophobic in nature, may be applied to label the cells and has an important application for generating blue-fluorescent bioconjugates. The probe molecule has a significant role in the ascertainment of amino acids by capillary zone electrophoresis based on semiconductor laser fluorescence detection. The structure of the coumarin is similar to another well studied probe, Coumarin-343 (C-343).
