Description:
Galactoside derivative of myo-inositol will release myo-inositol upon action of β-galactosidase.

Application:
myo-Inositol is a component of membrane phospholipids, glycophosphatidylinositol anchors that bind glycoproteins to cell membranes and a precursor of inositol phosphates that act as second messengers in vivo. This derivative can also be used as a tissue culture media component that will be selectively released in lacZ transfected cell lines.
