Description

Calcein AM is useful for determining cell viability. In live cells the non-fluorescent calcein AM is hydrolyzed by intracellular esterases into the green fluorescent anion calcein.

Calcein AM is a cell-permeant probe that is widely used to determine cell viability in most eukaryotic cells. In live cells the nonfluorescent calcein AM is converted to a green-fluorescent calcein after acetoxymethyl ester hydrolysis by intracellular esterases. NOTE: Supplied as a convenient * 4mM soln in DMSO
