Laboratory Director - Chemistry
Marker Gene Technologies, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Director of Chemistry Laboratory Operations. This position is responsible for leadership and operational decisions for the entire laboratory. The Director provides leadership to all direct reporting managers. The Director serves closely with the President and Scientific Director on synthesis, chemical production, biochemistry and biology laboratory issues. Responsibilities include a wide variety of supervisory, administrative and fiscal activities to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the Chemistry Laboratory. The qualified person must be committed to quality and exemplify Marker Gene Technologies, Inc. standards of Professionalism, Courtesy, Attitude, Respect and Enthusiasm.
A Master's or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or allied fields is required. Business or MBA background is a plus. Broad knowledge in laboratory techniques and management. Two years experience in a significant chemical, biochemical or biology laboratory leadership position. Excellent skills in employee relations and customer relations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to research, evaluate, develop, and implement new programs or projects within approved time frames. Successful completion of Marker Gene Technologies, Inc. orientation and competency-based skills program. Individual performance and competency based skills are maintained through ongoing assessment of competence and educational activities. Salary commensurate with experience.

Laboratory Research Assistant I
Marker Gene Technologies is currently recruiting qualified individuals with a B.S. or M.S. level background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or similar fields to apply for a position in our Research and Development Laboratory and Production Facilities on a full time basis. Persons with experience in Molecular Biology, Enzymology, Modern Organic Chemical Synthesis, Protein Isolation and Purification, PAGE and SDS-PAGE Protein Analysis Methodologies, DNA/RNA Gel Electrophoresis, Low and Medium Pressure Liquid Column Chromatrography Purification, Thin-Layer Chromatrography, Crystallization, Fluorescence and UV Analysis Methods, HPLC Method Development and Analysis, Proton and Carbon-13 NMR Analysis, Tissue and Cell Culture, Modern Production and Scale-up Methodologies or similar areas of expertise are particularly encouraged to apply. Good communication and writing skills, knowledge of standard computer word processing programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and an attention to detail are required. The qualified individual will work as a member of a team effort in the design and synthesis of new and existing products. Proven ability to work as a member of a team and also independently on complex scientific projects will be given careful consideration. Marker Gene Technologies anticipates several internships available for the Summer and Fall terms of 2010. Qualified individuals with experience in chemistry, biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry or a related discipline are encouraged to apply. Additional internships may be available in areas marketing, computer sciences, technical writing or Web publishing. Research credit through the Departments of Chemistry, Department of Biology (jointly with the Institute of Molecular Biology), Computer Science, The School of Business, the Individual Department or through the CDIP (Career Development Internship Center) may be arranged.
